Take your address out of your photos.
Phone photos carry GPS coordinates, camera model and a timestamp. Post one of a flat you rent out or an item you’re selling from home and you’ve published where you live. This shows what’s in there and hands back a clean file.
The clean copy is re-encoded as JPEG at quality 92, which drops every metadata block including GPS.

Why this matters for listings
- Rentals. A photo of your Airbnb taken on your phone can carry the exact coordinates of the property. Airbnb separately prohibits content that discloses a listing’s location to the public.
- Marketplace selling. Photographing an item on your kitchen table geotags your home address into a public listing seen by strangers who are about to arrange a meetup.
- Reused photos. Timestamps give away that a “new” listing photo is three years old, which buyers do check.
What gets removed
Everything. The clean file is redrawn from the decoded pixels onto a fresh canvas and re-encoded, so no EXIF, GPS, XMP or maker-note block survives - the output contains image data only. The trade-off is one generation of JPEG re-compression at quality 92, which is visually lossless for listing use but not for archiving.
Note that stripping metadata does not change the image content. If the photo shows your street through a window, that’s still in the picture.
